Hey there,
I’m Red, and welcome to Nu Music Monday. Glad to have you here.
Every week I write quick bites about some of my favorite tracks released in the past seven days (-ish). I also go into the latest music news when I feel like it and share stuff I think is worth your time.
Superb new music to digest this week, enjoy.

The Nutshell ~ (light) news of the week
Two more women joined the recent lawsuit claiming Bassnectar sexually abused them when they were underage.
The latest absurd twist from the *Panda express* is ‘Vax Live’, a Global Citizen Live Event for Vaccination. The show aired last Saturday, hosted by Selena Gomez and with performances by J-Lo, J Balvin, H.E.R. and Foo Fighters. Truly dystopian.
Track of the week: Purge The Poison - MARINA (feat. Pussy Riot)
MARINA remixed her last single with Pussy Riot and the result is explosive. Nadya lets us have it, witching-style. ‘Purge The Poison’ is quintessential Marina Diamandis yet this re-worked version hits even harder. If it’s your first time hearing the track, give it a couple listens: the original grew on my over time and I wouldn’t be surprised if it did for you too.
MARINA’s upcoming LP, Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land, is set for release on 11 June.
Runner-up: Lost In Space (feat. SG Lewis) - Folamour
It’s the latest offering from Folamour and probably one of the last promotional singles from his upcoming June full-length. Folamour and SG Lewis merrily bridge the gap between house and pop: not content with driving in a single lane, the track swerves left and right. A gentle bop.
i n t e r l u d e - J. Cole
Leave it to J. Cole to come back to the main stage with an interlude titled ‘i n t e r l u d e’. Honestly, boss move + the track is fire. His new album is out Friday.
Interlude 1: Hello from the other side
Holy Holy (2020 Mix) - David Bowie
Wild to think icons like Bowie will be introduced to new generations through 2054 remastered commercial grabs. Provided music doesn’t disintegrate into a homogeneous blurb of one minute TikTok fodder. Let’s see which re-worked tracks are to emerge from the looming plasma of hyperactive and choreography-worthy snippets.
North - Duane Forrest
Smooth and sincere, Duane Forrest ladies and gentlemen and fellow humans.
Going Down South - The Black Keys
Yeeha.
Interlude 2: Mad world
Woman - Little Simz, Cleo Sol
If I could invest in Little Simz’ stock I would. They say you really have to have faith in the product to invest. I’m fully invested. Simbi supremacy.
Incantation VIII - Sufjan Stevens
Sufjan Stevens’ instrumental odyssey has come to a close. Let’s take one last moment to enjoy this gorgeous melancholy cut.
Tentação - Carol Biazin, Luísa Sonza
Brazil is brewing the next gen of international pop hitmakers. Watch out Puerto Rico, Rio de Janeiro is coming for your gig. This one is very Britney throw-back but with a caipirinha.
Interlude 3: “if you wouldn’t mind”
Wake-Up (Loraine James Remix) - Kelly Lee Owens
Xcxoplex (with Charli XCX) - A. G. Cook
7 De Mayo - J Balvin
Outro: Out on hulu now
