Hey there,
I’m Red, and welcome to Nu Music Monday. Glad to have you here.
Every week I share my favorite tracks released in the past seven days (-ish). I also go into the latest music news when I feel like it and share stuff I think is worth your time.
Thinking of changing my alias to Bigger Red Machine.

Big Red Machine - How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last? / review
Justin Vernon and Aaron Dessner look back at what could have been
Aaron Dessner (The National) and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) join forces once again for their second Big Red Machine endeavor. It’s filled with so many guest appearances that you’re immediately reminded that no matter how personal it gets, music fosters community. That being said, How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last? is undeniably led by Dessner, whose need for self-expression is by and large the guiding principle across the bulk of the album, from the slow burn reminiscence of opener “Latter Days” to the delicate balladry of closer ”New Auburn.”

~The Nutshell~ news of the week
The Nirvana baby (not a baby anymore) is seeking damages for a very strange reason.
The Rolling Stones’ drummer Charlie Watts passed away.
Doja Cat will host the VMAs, so expect lewks, laughs–and cringe–aplenty.
Kanye West invited notorious homophobe DaBaby and alleged abuser Marilyn Manson to his last listening event, prompting me to cancel plans I had to review Donda.
And Donda was released by Universal without Kanye’s permission according to him. Is it worth the headache? I think not.
Camilla Cabello and James Corden are the stuff of nightmares. Their latest hellish move? A flash mob in LA to promote that god-awful-looking Cinderella movie.
Track of the week: Foreign Things - Amber Mark
Things are moving fast for Amber Mark. She’s been consistently delivering R&B prime cuts and this one is my favorite so far. Excited for the album!
Runner-up 1: No Difference - Hand Habits
Change of pace. Equally excited for Hand Habits’ upcoming album. This one has a date–Oct. 22.
Runner-up 2: star-crossed - Kacey Musgraves
Talk about a 180. From the afterglow of Golden Hour to this theatrical introduction to her post-divorce revelation album, Kacey’s new record promises to be memorable. I had the opportunity to hear and review it for a pub… let’s just say this song is my favorite by far.
